How am I doing?

Hi,

I've just been messing about with my Clarke 160TM Mig welder with Argoshield Universal.

Never welded anything before & just trying to get the settings right and the technique.

Here's a picture of three I was trying out on:

The top two were just running a weld straight along, and then the bottom one was trying to weave a bit.

I know I need to clean the surface up more and maybe try to support my hand as I'm welding.

How are the power settings? I had it on 1 Max & wire speed set in the middle @ 5. It was still spitting slightly more than I'd like though I think.

Excellent first attempts that anyone would be proud of and a nice demo of what can be done with what many class as a hobby welder.

Spitting is usually due to dirty steel, wire speed and perhaps angle of the torch, the brown sooty deposit may also be a result of your torch angle changing as you near the end of the weld, but all in all you have nothing to worry about with those weld standards,
