Sinks are smaller but tend to be big enough to take the 3/4" taps.

stay away from Victorian plumbing!
funnily enough on the German goods the last good set of taps weve had all came from Aldis and they've lasted well so far and come with 5 year warrenty.
i would allways use the old washer type taps if can, the ceramic disk type never seem to last long and can be a gamble whether you get good or bad ones.

I like Pegler taps, IME they last and their spares service is good.
I've a ceramic valved swiveling kitchen mixer, it did 15+ years before the swivel O rings wore enough to leak. Pegler sent me replacements FoC. We have very soft water up here, that might make a difference.

Hansgrohe, Franke, grohe, etc. try Italian/German made although Italian require odd adapters as many are 8-10 mm standard fittings as required by plumbing laws aboard !
