Speaking of Meggers . . . what do I do with my dad's old hand cranked one?
It's spent the last 40 odd years in the cupboard under the stairs at my mums - which got sold early this year.

We found out as apprentices that if you hold the clips firmly then wind it up you don't get a shock.

Had a work colleague hand me a large motor at the bowling alley once after he had charged the caps up

only for about half a minute i put some leads on one charged up with the megger and go prod people my favourite was clip the megger on to a circuit 500volt and latch it on and get the apprentice to make the other end off and watch him jump

I got had as an apprentice running and making off cables into 20mm galv conduit, someone had clipped 1 test probe to the conduit and one to the end of the cables I was splitting out. Got me proper!

We used to have a metal tool rack and all metal tool boxes we as apprentices had to make. It was common for a lead to be connected to the tool rack and a long wander lead used on sleepy morning colleague's.
