Hot spraying

Ok so I was thinking that I will give my digger a blow over with some tractol I have lying about I read somewhere that it can be hot sprayed so no need to thin it anyone tried it

how do you propose to do that and keep the paint hot as well as the digger

I read that you heat the paying till it's steaming and then pour it straight in the gun and spray I read the heat thins it and it dries faster and goes on thicker

Easier to add 5% xylene. Have a read of the Data Safety sheet. Flammable.

When I worked at a coachbuilders in th 60s we had a spray gun with a heated cup for enamel paint, NOT cellulose. Plugged in for 15 min and then used usually outdoors on tankers.

does work with enamel /synthetic paints ...make sure you dont set fire to the workshop lol

should work well....with thinners if you lash it on too hard it stays thin and runs , vs hot paint will go on thin and quickly cool/thicken and hopefully not run or not as likley too

This time of year I would be adding a splash of liquid driers to the paint, you can halve the drying time.

We used to heat Valspar "Valflash for commercials", worked ok had a heated pot, have heated it on a small GAZ stove in dim & distant

ive been spraying one of my lathes with tractol and xylene thinners it sprays verry good as long as its at a reasonable temperature and dries fairly quick

The banger racers used to use petrol and dulux mixed dries really quickly and bleeds to a lovely smooth finish
