I have been guided to this video (below) by a comment to a video about lift start TIG
where (at 4"10) the welder starts the TIG by scratching the electrode - far from the tip - with a metal rod touching the metal to be welded.
I didn't knew the name for this technique so found the above name pretty amusing.
Did you knew it?
I works pretty well and should avoid tungsten contamination. I have been using it this afternoon and it saved my day!
