Horse box first respray

A bit neglected.
My niece's old horse box, she was selling this but no one was interested. I asked if I could have a go at spraying it.

I can't do too much damage

Someone painted the bonnet with Hammerite. It looked like a shag pile carpet!

Tried my hand at rubbing down

sprayed on the undercoat

Home made spray rack. They are builders trestles hung from the block wall by their legs

I started spraying on this side because it would be harder to see my mistakes

4 days later, all back together, no bits left over.

The horse box was sold the day these final four pictures were taken. I did not get a chance to spray the wheels or black the tyres.
This was not a restoration only a chance to practice my spraying. There are about 3 sags because I held the gun too close and and 4 runs caused when I sprayed around the wing mirrors. Instead of short bursts I went at them like I was holding a hose pipe.
I should have used sealer on the wooden ramps too. But the paint underneath looked good and even with the undercoat it still dried a bit blotchy.
All in all I am really pleased with the way it turned out.
I would be grateful for any comments good or bad.

Did you put a sticker anywhere with your phone number? may generate repeat business once it goes out to shows.

I am seriously thinking about it. I might ask around at their stables to see if anyone is interested.

stuff like a bonnet..instead of hanging id say lay it flat on a box or something , easier for a beginer to get a nice finish and less chance of runs if its flat

I believe it's best to paint panels as they are fitted, doors vertical, bonnet horizontal etc.

The trade off in a spray booth like Richy-b's is dust settling whilst the paint is still wet.

You are spot on with the reason for me hanging the bonnet up too. I was told about the dust. I have to be honest I would never have thought of it myself.
