I was watching an old episode of Salvage Squad the other day - the one where they re-built a SnowCat.
A trunion in the drive system had broken, and they trotted off to a farm in Devon where a donor one was in a hedge. Claire gleefully talked about using the gas axe to remove it, and to my horror the camera swung from the lit flame to the cylinders, that were lying horizontal in the back of a Discovery.
My immediate thought was that they must be using propane, but no, looking at the colour of the cylinder it was acetylene.
Now I've always been told that this is a heinous sin, as the acetone that the acetylene is dissolved in is liable to pass out though the regulator
I was taught that the acetylene cylinder had to be vertical for at least 20 mins before use
