well i got my tape measure out and 21' is the lenght of that longer hook loader 'chassis' , that one does stick over the back of my truck about a foot or so . you can go to 16'6" high without problems .

id love the job myself but as miles= ££ i think nick brookes at nantwich might be a good bet with a suitable truck

The boat's actually down near Ipswich, a fair away from up here!

We're now looking at the possibility of using a 40ft flat rack, and using a 'sidelift' trailer to load/unload it.

you might struggle with a side lift the lift has to put outriggers out to balance the load you cant put outriggers over the edge of a quayside

with the picture of the boat on a low loader look like you are not far off 4metres in height a flat back would put you at 5 metres or more
getting a bit high low loader is your best bet but that's my opinion

Hook loader or winch ?

I regularly move my Traction engine on a flat platform ,Philip Clarke from Braintree do,s it for me. I think he uses a winch system rather than hook as the winch get up is lighter so the pay load is more . My Engine is based near Maldon but we travel to Sussex Steam Rally's .

you cant put outriggers over the edge of a quayside

Locally, there are two hards thats are flat and level, and used for moving boats around on. The plan would be to go down at low water and drop the flat rack, then wait for the tide to come in so the boat can be floated over the flat rack, then wait for the tide to go out, and go and pick the flat rack up. This means the side loader can use its legs (probably with pads).

At home, there's room for the sidelift to get access, and put its legs down. Pads probably required again.

No problem Luke , i see now that the boat is 10 M long , i think 4 metres overhang is a tad too much on a hooklift
Good luck with the container lift idea .
