Hone recommendations?

My old Sykes pickavant electric drill operated hone that I use for cleaning up cylinder bores has given up (lent to someone who misused it!). Mainly used on old car and motorcycle bores about 60 to 100mm diameter, I like to buy reasonable quality, but do not want to spend more than I need to - was looking at https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Laser-20...272484351589?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10 anyone got any recommendations? Will look into, suspect I would need a range of diameters too for this type...

The trouble with the cheap hones like the spring loaded flat stones and the ball type glaze busters is they only follow the shape of the bore so do little other than rough up the bore for bedding in rings. The delapena hones mechanically force parallel stones outward and straighten the bore, a much better job. You will need a gut buster and a second person applying lube ( paraffin or honing fluid) but at least you will be achieving something. You will also need file fit or gapless rings to get a worthwhile benefit from a re purposed bore and knurl the piston skirts if possible.

That brings back memories, we used similar tooling on Delapena speed hones on hydraulic valve bodies, when I worked for Eaton Hydraulics. I usually just get a rebore if the bore is out of spec, was just looking for a relatively cheap deglazing tool.

The Flexi hone is a super tool for glaze busting if I remember correctly CAT recommended them for that on the big machines when they came out.
We used modified Delapina hone with diamond inserts to hone shot gun barrels when I was into that sort of thing as @8ob says hold tight & plenty of fluid
