Evening Gents - I have a question re the Honda Ignition Security System:
I have a 2003 Honda CB1300 that was stolen a while ago. When I got it back, there was a bit of damage, but nothing too serious. I've changed the top yoke, and the ignition barrel, but I need a new HISS antenna. It's an old bike with high mileage and only in average condition so I don't want to spend too much putting it right. I may find that the nasty scrotes have ragged the 4rse off it and ******** the engine, so at this stage I need to be a bit careful what I spend.
My question is re the HISS Antenna: Does anyone know if they are roughly the same on most Honda models about that sort of age? As far as I know, all it does is read the signal from the chip in the ignition key, and pass that signal onto the ECU. I don't think they are paired up or matched with the key or the ECU.
This is what I'm on about - just a generic picture from the 'net:
My second question (if they are all basically the same), does anyone here have a spare on they could sell me or lend me? Maybe somebody has a track bike or a pile of early Honda bits sitting about not being used?
Not a biggie if nobody has one - they are plenty on eBay, I just need to know if I could use one for a CB600 or a Pan European for example.
I'm still puzzled how they got the bike started though - I always thought the HISS was pretty good at immobilising the bike without the proper key. But evidently not!
