Homebase End of Line bargains

Just been to Homebase for paint and did my usual meander around the tool aisles.
Might not be all of them, but the B st E one had some good end of line bargains in screwdrivers, saws and hammers. I've bought myself a load of Stanley Dynagrip Pro screwdrivers for £1 ea, Sandflex bi-metal hacksaw blades £1 for 2 and a Roughneck club hammer for a tenner.
Theoretically I should now be able to junk half of my knackered screwdrivers....but I probably won't...you just never know..

I have a few old ones kicking about, usually end up in the kitchen drawer for changing batteries in noisey toys!!

But somehow, i still manage to find 2 snapon screwdrivers ontop of the freezer and 2 on the bookshelf

Opening tins of paint, chipping out putty, making pointy for lining up holes (already forgotten what one of thems called). Mine will probably initially move to the 'surplus tools' cabinet in the shed for when I'm working out there and can't be bothered to come in for tools.

Old tools have a fantastic use that cannot be dismissed!
You throw them all in a box in the corner of the shed, and when someone says "can I borrow xyz" give them the crap one out the old tools box!
Occasionally I get 3 or 4 of something ,and at that point I give one to my father in law to stop him having to come round and ask, since he never buys anything decent himself...

Still sounds like a name someone made up when they didn't know what to call it. Like Munro's, known to some as Bizzlers. A Munro is a block of mdf/wood/dowel with abrasive paper stuck to it. So called by a friend I used to work for making models for advertising. Andrew Munro, a co-worker, championed the use of such blocks in all shapes and forms and made them so often that they were named after him (as they didn't seem to have a proper name). Now it's common usage in my workshop, anyone who's ever worked with me - (and all them as used to work for Guy), knows exactly what a Munro is.
Guy is now living in France - I wonder if the name has travelled?

The thing is, a sanding block can just mean a block that you wrap sandpaper around whereas a munro is always glued and you can have cylindrical munro's, (dowel or pipe depending on what diam you need) flat munro's (with paper either side), square section munro's (paper on all sides) or special shaped munro's for bizzling mouldings or whatever, oh the pissibolities are endless, so you see you only need the one word...with a bit of clarification as to shape, size etc. Simple (and it's a much better word than BLOCK )

....and a useful verb... i.e. can you munro that a bit? then the person being asked knows he/she must sand with a munro and not just a piece of hand-held sandpaper.

Actually to "block down" a body is pretty widely known parlance in bodyshops for sanding down something using a block (shaped or otherwise) with abrasive paper stuck/clamped/fixed somehow to it. So "can you block that a bit" would make sense to them, even loyblox got in on that action since a loyblox is actually a abrasive block impregnated through with the material already

But, nothing wrong with inventing your own word as long as you all know what it means
