Hi all,
While struggling to insert a large metalastic bush with the vice, then nuts bolts& washers etc, I thought what I need is a small press! I then realised I had one of the 2 ton £10 trolley jacks not being used & started to look at the ram unit, this works on a mechanical disadvantage of 1 - 3 due to the leverage so if the jack will genuinely lift 2ton, the ram should be capable of about 6 ton force. Has anyone tried it, know whether a 2ton jack is capable of lifting 2 ton? Or just lifting a 2 ton car? The jack frame must be strong enough to support the maximum available pressure so could be used as the side plates, it should be fairly simple to fit a plate to push on.
Has anyone tried it? I bet someone on hear knows whether it's feasible. Your thoughts please
