home elecs- can i wire a outside socket to inside one?

id like a waterproof outdoor socket on the house for when im hoovering the car etc

i have a twin socket indoors , is it a matter of drilling through the walll and connecting to the inside socket ? or more involved

wont be needing any certificates /papers

It is what I did. Make sure to use a good quality outdoor socket, some of them are 'orrible. Drill from inside to out with a down slope to keep water out. Probably against regs but frankly, with an RCD electrical system I am content with the job.

I think you're allowed one spur still. Regs could of changed since I last looked. Should be fine. Long masonry bit back to back the sockets. Seal it up with a bit of evostik obviously use the correct amperage wire.

I don't think that is the case, although I am no expert. Surely you can have as many as you like?

The regulations change regularly which is why I am rusty on it now. I know more about the French NF!

Evostik? I don't think so. Silicone sealant is the product to use here.

obviously use the correct CURRENT wire.

Normally 2.5mm T&E with grommets in the metal back box internally.

If you're not going back to back use outdoor cable. And put a dripping loop in.

Silicon cheapest. Evostiks better. Either/Or keep the moisture out. Definitely drill inside to out take it off hammer when you're 15-10mm away reduce a blowout. Put a dust pan underneath where you're drilling.

I had a double socket set in the dry lined wall right opposite where I wanted to put the outside socket so I drilled through from outside, disconnected one side of the ring main from the inside socket, pulled up some slack T&E from behind the plasterboard wall so it could pass through the hole then linked the outside socket to the inside one with a spare 16" of T&E thus adding it to the downstairs ring main.

then that plug cant be used when its not needed

just as easy to use one of these then you can disconnect both the live and nuetral to the outside

I just had one wired in (by my electrician)...he did a spur off the ring main to the socket. He "recommended" a fused isolator which I went with so the socket can be disabled. Reckon if it's fused correctly to the spur wire then you can have as many as you like but I'm no expert either.

400 most, although 600 on some pre 70s builds. if you live in house out in the dales or something meter long.

i use 2 drill bits 15mm -16mm and then a long one for the outside wall

the smaller starts off the hole whilst when you insert the second one you have a guide through the wall

You can add a spur anywhere on a ring. What you shouldn't do is to add a spur to an existing spur.

just tap of the ring and fit a 13amp fused switchspur inside to feed it there double pole and as for spuring off if you have 6 sockets on a ring you can spur 6 sockets off it only one spur per point
