A newbie here that has made a home brew CNC bed, cut one plate and now has problems! That first plate was cut using a bodge with a push button to control the cutter. Only now when it is integrated into the CNC controller, so I seem to have problems!
I am using a Planet CNC Mk3 controller, the bed is home made using some parts from Ooznest and the rest I have made.
I have spent tonight sorting out sizes and other issues and also used the "Flood" command to control the RTech plasma cutter. There is a dxf file that has converted to G-code and follows the trace expected.
With the plasma turned off, it does what I hope and traces out a shape, however the moment you turn the plasma on, the gas goes, there is no cut and the PC shows "controller disconnected".
The CNC controller and all the I/O and servo drives are in an earthed metal box connected to the PC by USB. I have used shielded wires to all the servos and limit switches, but I assume the torch triggering is upsetting the controller as it will trace out the correct path with no issues with the plasma off!
It's obviously the arc (that doesn't strike; or at least I can't see it!) that causes the issue.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Peter
