Our twins are outgrowing their bikes,we’ve never bought new, always been given them, this ones no exception, but was even better as it’s old school Raleigh,so worlds away from the current rubbish, pumped the tyres, they hold and will be so much more puncture resistant than modern stuff, applied oil to the delightful Sturmey Archer 3 speed gearbox, loosen the head bearings, they’re loose anyway, oil the balls until it dribbles out the bottom, realign the rear wheel as it touched the chain stay, carefully undid one side of the bottom bracket to oil it,as it was grinding!
Lastly, dismantling the gear change twist grip allowing me to thoroughly oil the cable and grease the sprung loaded detent ball for smooth (high speed !?) gear changes.
What’s more it has a side stand, just like my old chopper.
He isn’t quite tall enough yet ,but I’m sure later this year he’ll be ready.
Now to find more old school for his brother before they become image conscious.
