we even get em here....
rescued one from the swimming pool on a very hot day......
when we find em, we give cat food and water bowls all over the place....
next year plan to build a shallow pond to help out the animals n insects....
it will have to be connected to the garden water via a ball cock as it will soon dry up....
worth every penny.....
would just love to see a wild Tortoise tho...

Oh aye, they're all over the bloody place. Never try to pick/coral one, they'll give you a nasty bite.

Sounds like the porcupine out here I believe they are protected as well, back when I took my hunting course we were told that they were one of the things you could eat raw if you were lost in some area.

We're in Maine, and porcupines can be found everywhere around here. A couple of days ago, I pulled at least a dozen porcupine quills out of the tires of my truck...probably hit a bit of road kill with it, as I haven't hit any live ones (yet). No native hedgehogs here, but people are starting to keep them as house pets.

I've heard that porcupines are not closely related to hedgehogs, and hedgehogs are not native to Maine, but some people here are starting to keep hedgehogs as house pets.

Recently, an escaped (or possibly abandoned) hedgehog was found wandering down a local city sidewalk. It acquired the temporary name of Mr. Needlemouse until he(?) was turned over to an animal rescue center and eventually to a new owner.

Possibly a fish based cat food. Try a meat one or dog food.
