Hobby weld 15

Im looking at changing over from my boc size Y bottle and go onto the hobby weld gas's.

Im looking at getting a hobby weld 5 and a hobby weld 15 for diffrent jobs.

Has anyone used this supplier and how many welding minits i am likly to get out of a bottle?

I use hobby weld 5 not sure on minutes of welding but as only 130 bar fill wont last anywhere near as long as the boc y size. I was told if I use more than 3 bottles per year it would be cheaper to have a boc y bottle on the offer. Only had it a few months so not tested the theory yet but at least I can get my deposit back if I do change my mind.

The hobbyweld bottles are a 9l water capacity and circa 137 bar (so about 1.35m3) of gas approx. The Boc cylinders are bigger and higher pressure so have a nominal 5m3 of gas in them so the hobbyweld cylinders last about 1/4 of the time.

Assuming a 10l/m flow rate
Hobby weld 135 mins
BOC size y 500 mins

I wonder why there bottle are 230bar aposed to the hobby weld 137?

A cynic would say that most people just go and buy a bottle of gas without thinking about how much gas it contains. Essentailly Hobbyweld could have 200 bar bottles with very little cost difference (considering all the transport remains about the same etc) but they want people to buy more bottles.

Do you no much are the refills are?

I was quoted £38 + VAT for a 5% co2 bottle from hobby weld as a rough guide

Pretty sure my bottle was about £25 for the gas and £50 deposit on the bottle, but no rental like boc, if I used more gas the boc deal would be cheaper over a year. At the moment it suits my needs.

The rates for the Hobby gas have been going up, I got a bottle of Argon and the dposit was £60 (no VAT) and the gas £50 including VAT, when I had enquired 6 months ago it was £50 (no VAT) deposit and around £38 including VAT for the refil

Have to say I was a little surprised that my Hobyweld 15, purchased in July is about to run out. I am not an everyday user and put this first bottle down to me being a novice. So will order one more and see how I get on. I had thought it the might have been a leak but couldn't find one on the bottle or
on my mig set.

After comments on here and chatting to friends i am going to stick with my boc bottles as ive got a good amount of work lineing up. its a shame they only fill the bottles up to 137!

Have you considered the Albee rent free cylinders ??

11ltr @ 200bar will give a similar fill to the X sized BOC.

There will also be a 13ltr 300bar version coming out soon which will be equivalent to the Y sized..

Albee seems the best deal around at the moment imho...
