I suppose letting the smoke out of my clarke 40 plasma, was a bad sign?
I was cutting some fairly rusty angle, about 4mm thick and it was struggling, suddenly it popped the breaker on the fusebox, I re set it and when I looked there was smoke coming out of the unit, I turned the power off, opened the box up to find the earth wire had melted /shorted on the transformer,
I shortened and re made the earth connection, and it works again but no better than before, probably betteron clean metal?
why would it short?
