Hitachi horizontal band saw

Just picked this up today, was at a local liquidation auction and listed as spares or repair ( no plug on it so they couldn't test it)
My feeling is that it probably doesn't have the right guarding on it to be used in a workplace so the plug was cut off.
So I thought it was worth a punt

Not had a chance to check it yet but it's tidier than I was expecting.

There was a Hydrovane 502 compressor and a proper drier in the same auction, I wasn't interested in the compressor as I already have one, but I did want the drier.
I figured I could buy the set up and sell on the compressor, leaving me with a very cheap drier !!
Went for too much in the end though sadly

Well I hope its working for you whatever you paid for the Dodo,get looking for new bands and get one or two because spares for it are thin on the ground.

Think the 75f superceded it? can't be too sure on that though.

Take the blade off before trying to start it and see if the motor runs,if it does inspect the internal mechanics for any obstructions.

If motor runs derust all the steel parts and regrease,best to leave the blade till last derust and give it a sliver of oil.

I finally got around to looking at this yesterday, fitted a plug and dropped the blade off to make sure the motor ran first, and it fired up straight away !

Refitted the blade and ran some test cuts.

It needs a new blade (That I'm going to have to get made as its a non standard size) and some setting up as the blade did wander a bit, but I ran out of time to adjust and set it up properly.
But All in all not a bad buy.

I`m thinking I might make a stand for it too.

I think Tuff Saws makes blades to any length you specify.

Yes, I found their link from another thread on here so I ordered a replacement blade from them yesterday ;o)
