Got the Hitachi back from Cowlins last week, all repairs done, serviced and calibrated. Sorted it out today, and have been trying it out. First job cracked magnesium crankcase, which was no problem at all, then some practice welds on alloy car wheel, which seemed to suggest the GP2 is perfect for this type of job, and makes repairs faster and easier...................
All in all for £600 all in, its a real bargain, and the quality of the arc is certainly superior to my MLS, which cost around about £2000 more. Its obviously a 3 phase only machine, but for anyone who has 3 phase and wants to have a go at Tig for around about £1000, these do seem to appear on Ebay quite often.
