The tutorials came first. They came about because I couldn't find anywhere to send a Sweedish guy on the Renault 4 forum to learn about welding. That was late 2004.
The forum followed very quickly because I was bad at answering email questions about welding. Thank goodness - it was only a few questions a week back then.

It now has to be the foremost DIY welding forum in the UK by now, i certain would imagine it is the most popular thats for sure. Best thing the internet was invented for forums like this with the great exchange of idea's
It`s funny how a forum can keep it`s identity when it goes from a few members to vast numbers. I don`t think the mood has changed. It could be that the nucleus of the membership and Malcom set the tone and the ambience......then the others join in and adjust to that. People tend to do that unconsciously. Does that make sense?

Yes agree, I dont think the forums really changed much scince iv been on here, just grown lots, only real diffrence is there's too many posts to kinda keep track on them all....
I think its a rub off thing, personal atacks rarely happen, P*** taking with established members is all fair, its never insulting just a joke...This seams to rub off on the new members and in time they join in........

I might not be a regular poster, but i read quite a bit, and certainly reccomend the forum to a lot of people, whether that's online on landrover forums, or in person.
I even gave the local machine mart the web address, after he'd had a 30 min conversation with someone who wanted teaching how to weld there and then!

I reckon he still makes it up as he goes along...
I used to use the forum mainly for technical advice - now it's mainly social. I do like the odd bit of technical discussion too - especially on restoration projects.
My three most visited sites are this, the Landrover forum and of course the Aston Martin forum.
