My septic tank soakaway tank which is 12ft deep x 6ft diameter is filling from empty to 10" from the cover in 3 hours. Iam pumping it down every day. Hope we soon get some dry weather. My grass is looking lush with all the irrigation though.
In more sensible units thats 64m³, or about the size of my living room.this one collects 14 thousand gallons
But it's £££££££££'s in someone's pocket. We keep building on flood plains so water has no where to got its hardly rocket science but the powers that be keep letting us do it
Unfortunately it's not rainwater from the roof or drive. It's the underground water level filling the soak away.id be looking at a large water tank for the rainwater to be collected if you can install one
than have it go through my septic tank too fast
at least you can release the collected water at a slower rate when needed

Local point to point horse races have been cancelled for the first time ever, apparently, as the fields they use are just a soggy sodden mess. They’re a big event around here, I usually see dozens of 4x4 queuing up for miles along the dual carriageway to get in.
Sounds like most of the agry farmers round my way……townies move into the countryside , rip out hedges
That’s the one, I’ve never been, but usually ride by it every year.Would that be at Sandon?
Any solution to that will either involve pumping or isolation, and is unlikely to be cheap.Unfortunately it's not rainwater from the roof or drive. It's the underground water level filling the soak away.
Its not just townies, big commercial crop farming has done the same ripping out of hedges. Now there paying folk to replant them. Weve had puddles on hills, and new ponds appear. 5 minutes down pour and it looks like its rained for weeks. Ive started building an ark as my animals now have webbed feet!townies move into the countryside , rip out hedges ,put up fences, then fill in ditches so they have nice grass to mow....spend the next few years wondering why their driveways flood , if it was nt so stupid it would be comical . less and less hedging for the wild life more and more flooding , it comes to something when you would like to move to town to get away from townies
