I am struggling to find a fully synthetic compressor oil, sold in small quantities. Seems the Mobil stuff only comes in 20L barrels. Best I can find sold in one litre is INGERSOLL RAND ALL SEASON SELECT 1L RECIPROCATING COMPRESSOR OIL. Is this top quality? I assume my compressor pump, a Nuair B2800B 3HP Piston compressor Is what they call a “Reciprocating Compressor” ? I think this is a multigrade, So Ideal for me as the compressor is kept in an unheated garage, with heaters used when working in there. Any views on this oil or a reputable supplier appreciated
I just use 10-40 Diesel synth oil in all mine...never a prob over the years....I change all the oils 2'ice per year.... Dread to think how much a new pump would be for mine....Atlas Cop Co.....
I looked after 4 Ingersoll Rand type 30 compressors at a poultry processing factory and always used a SAE 30 mineral oil. These were running 16-20 hours a day 6 days a week. In 10 years I never touched the bottom ends or piston- cylinders. just valves and unloader valves. They don't need any special oil.
you can get well baffled with what oil goes in comps. mine just get whatever I have spare from my diesel engines or a gallon of cheap oil from boot fairs
Monograde oils are ok in warm countries or a heated garage, if I put SAE30 compressor oil in my compressors they wouldn't start in cold weather! I've always used a 10w40 or 15w40 semi synthetic in my compressors for 20 years & they are all still running on the original pump!
