Hiding sealant on outside lamps

those lights have a gasket between the back plate and fitting. the backplate has a 20mm grommet fitted where the wire enters . just gun a bit of silicone in round the grommet and its water tight no need for all that crap round the outside

Yeah they were mounted like that originally, but you could see the screws and plugs from the side as result of them not sitting flush on such an uneven surface. The sealant was the (unsatisfactory) solution to hide the screws and plugs.

Neatly grouted with a matching mortar would have been nice. Colour matched or even translucent sealant would have been OK. Black sealant really makes it shout.
