No offence taken Tbh I thought the claim for the MIG102NG to be able to weld 4-5mm was ambitious when I bought it.... but my main concerns at the time was a) to try & learn to weld well enough to repair my Van, and b) that meant I needed to weld thinner as a priority over thicker.im going to upset you here now dont take an offence to it
I knew what i was wanting to weld with my mig and yes i asked on here in end i wanted to weld 5mm as i could change up to the arc welder after that
i was told 150 or above was the better model to choose can weld many types of thicknesses that was being a skin flint oh and i didnt like the cost of gas
90.00 wasnt really an extra i wanted to pay for but will admit best option that i did
now your model

So, the welder has allowed me to at least do that (though I'm well aware my welding is functional and nothing like the lovely welds you see from good welding people).
I have been pleasantly surprised though (With suitable wire) with its ability to weld thicker steel. As a practice piece (& cos I needed one) I used the 102NG to make this Metal folder, and it did the job
