Ok fine, my arms are shorter than my pockets are long, when it's cold I sit near a candle and when it's REAALLY cold, I light it.

Apart from that, I'm Joe, I'm into Land Rovers, old cars and old bikes. Generally the cheap (rusty ) ones so I learnt to weld out of necessity to be honest!


I live on a farm and we've got the oldest (oil-cooled ) stick welder I've ever seen, the wheels are wooden....

After I had played with that for a while, welding all dad's spare parts together, I got a Clarke gasless Mig machine, it was useless, but then so was I!

I've got a ERP (locally made and also cheap!) 260 amp Mig now, rebuilt my first Landy with it earlier this year, pictures available for anyone interested


Looking to learn more now so after a Tig-set and some stainless filler rods..ooo and a friendly set of folks willing to give advice....yes I realise its called MIG-welding.co.uk

It started off like this with a 2.25 diesel...

Underwent MUCH fabbing and weldifying

And ended up like this with a 3.5L V8

Your right it is mig-welding.co.uk, but to be honest, there plenty here about TIG and Arc as well. I believe Malcolm the site owner started off doing mig welding, and like all that start and enjoy welding they tend to expand beyond mig, and venture into the land of TIG and ARC. The forum has sections for Arc welding and TIG welding and even tools associated with welding. Its a very expensive bussiness welding, very much so when you include other tools associated with it, but its enjoyable, unless of course you weld for a living then its work
Mig is the easiest to learn, followed by Arc then TIG. each has there uses, mig is great for production work, and welding sheet metal in all positions. Arc is very suited to structural work and heavier steel section. Tig produces lovely looking welds is hard to master, and even harder to learn to do it positional and is just plain slow.

i go out there quite a bit in the summer to Pocklington canal and do a bit of canoeing lovley place go for a couple of mile upstream and in to melboure marina and go for a pint

Yeah it's a lovely place to be.

Pock canal runs from Pock all the way past Bielby, to the derwent past East Cottingwith, nice walk along the towpath with the dog actually!

Or in the water in a canoe perhaps??!

Sadly not! Our house is just out of that picture, to the right. We do however, have a bit of a bog in the back garden, and the sea comes in the front garden sometimes.

Yes, sometimes. And mountains. We lived in two other parts of Scotland before moving here, and they had plenty of both.

But we have the sea and the beaches here
