Hi this is my first post.I have just started my first restoration,a renault 5 gt turbo.it is a fantastic car just abit rotten i have new sills for it which i will be fitting once i have got used to my welder.I am using a clarke 151te.i have been repairing the front arches,but keep blowing holes,i did a welding coarse a few years ago,but never welded anything as thin,any tips on welding thin metal would be great.top site,getting some useful tips reading the boards

I was once the proud owner of such a car. It was on an E plate. It was mint. I bought it from a guy who worked for Renault Manchester. It had an oil change once a month!!

It was largley standard when I got it but I soon realised the potential of minor mods!! Had a GT Tuning hybrid turbo fitted which was stunning. It was amazing to think it was only a 1.4!! Arh them were the days!!!!

Are you a member of the GT Turbo owners club? you will find some great info from them. I went on many a club outing with them.

I would luv to pick up a mint condition Turbo 2 - but they are getting as rare a rocking horse ****e!!

The wife has a 182 which is good fun on the B roads - but the 5GT was in another league.

Whatever you do dont take the windscreen out, replacing the windscreen surrounds a nightmare!

I'm building a Renault 4 with a R5 MK1 Gordini engine (not the turbo). There's plenty of thin metal in these Renaults especially when they've got a little thin with age.

How much pressure does a regular stock MAF on a Peugeot tolerate for a good air/fuel ratio before it goes crazy and shuts down.

I was considering getting a second-hand Escort RS turbo from the breakers and fitting it.

Was looking at around 7lbs of pressure with stock compression.

yes i am a member of the renault turbo owners club,it is a very good club.lots of advice and some great members,i know a couple of turbo 2 owners,left hand drive versions,worth over £15000.mine has a roller bearing turbo and runs over 200 hp,great power to weight ratio!

aaahh!did a clutch on one about 14 years ago,horrendous job,then the owner came back tanting at me cos the indicators stopped working a week later???? aah,those WERE the days!
