Allright I'm Bob,33,living in the Highlands,Loch Ness and nessie ring a bell?
You guessed it - a life long car nutter.I taught myself to tune and rebuild engines etc. been modifying cars since I was 17 but when I got my hands on a cracking(or so it seemed) Astra GTE to discover tea-bagged sills under the sideskirts thought it was about time I learnt how to weld.I got fed up scrapping nice motors when the mot came round.
I got an SIP Handymate Gasless and proceeded to learn how to weld, how not to and why you should take care of your welder etc. By the time I figured it out the SIP was on it's last legs.
I order a Clarke from a catologue couple years back, wanting to use gas but they sent me a Nu-tool NW130 instead. This has turned out to be a cracking machine though the internal cooling fan gave up in the first month.Hasn't bothered it though,it's had many a prolonged and heavy session without a single complaint until some lead footed idiot accidently kicked the front and burst my on/off switch (no it wasn't me).I've not seen a Nu-tool welder before but mines pretty good and can take some heavy usage.
I've welded heaps of cars, mine and homers, tramploines, made towbars and allsorts.I've got to sort my welder so I can get my cavy through its MOT and then my mate wants me to build him a boat trailer, that's gonna be fun!!
I probably don't have a text book or classic technique,I am totally self taught but I look forward to learning from the members of this site and hope to pass on my own hints and tips, going about things the wrong way is a good way to teach yourself the right way.
Cheers.BB
