Firstly hello everybody, been reading this forum/site for a while and it's been very useful with great practical advice
Recently bought my first MIG and I love it, it's like using a glue gun after the stick welder I had before. Can't wait to get on with some proper projects.
However I think there may be a problem with my regulator, it's the plastic clarke one for a disposable bottle. In the instructions it reccomends gas setting 3-4 for general welding but I don't get any gas at all unless it's on maximum (think it's number 6). It seems to weld fine on this setting but I don't really want to be using more gas than I need.
Is this a regulator problem or are they just 'on or off' and the numbers are a lie!?

I'm not too sure about those regulators, but I've heard that you need to tighten the heck out of them onto the bottle, if the problem still exists try opening the regulator all the way with the bottle closed, and then start opening the bottle slowly to regulate the airflow you need without wasting any unused gas.
