Hello I'm new here and to the forum in general, although I'm on several other non welding forums. I'm looking for advice on various subjects.
To start with what I have now is a "Clarke TIG130 Electronic" circa about 20 years old. Supposedly 130amp TIG and 113amp Arc, I take Clark numbers with a pinch of salt.
Never used the TIG, it's a basic scratch TIG, I think it's called. But did use the Arc to buld a boat trailer about 15 years ago. My Arc welding got reasonable so long as I didn't try anything too thin
Towards the end of building the boat trailer I thought I'd give the TIG a try, got a bottle from BOC (big mistake, spent 5 years paying rental and never used the gas!!) at the same time I bought, what at the time was an expensive Murex auto shade helmet. But of course after 15 years in the box the "hermetically sealed" lithium batteries are toast and the electronics are dead, even left it in the sun for a couple of hours to see if it would come back to life, sadly not. Luckily a fixed lens (din 11) cartridge came with the mask so it can still be used.
I started looking for replacement lens filter, found a place in Denmark who presumably bought the world stock when Murex stopped supporting helmets, and they want £230 for a replacement cartridge
But I came across these on ebay, which would fit the mask aperture, Same din 9-13 as the "PROTANE Electronic" original:

What are peoples thoughts?
Thanks
Chris
PS: I'm thinking of trying out MIG as I want to do some thin wall tube welding, so will be seeking advice on MIG welders and gases later
