Hi everyone, im sean . found the forum a few days ago as im looking for a clarke 151te to upgrade from my cebora 130, which doesnt seem to be working that well anymore and isnt really as versatile as i need. Im very impressed with with vast knowledge on the forum, which will hopefully come in handy when i start the bodywork side of my car restoration. My daily/nightly job is a shift engineer for a market leading bread company, biased in electrics and mechanical. we have two welders at work, which we use quite a lot to whip things up to keep us going as the plant runs 24/7, a lincoln 350 compact and a parweld tig (which im just about getting to grips with)

its ok matey, i was just being jovial as the company rivalaries are deep im currently restoring my (dont laugh) vauxhall nova. ive had the car for over 10 years, in storage for about 6! im currently sorting the body out to get it back to its former glory, and also as back in the day i loved the little thing and am probably trying to recapture my teen years

Welcome to the forum i'm a local wollaston, set up my own toolmaking firm in lye after the day job (on mill race lane) went bump in january
Got a 151 i take out on site good little machine got a parweld AC/DC tig is good for sticking bits of broken tools together

Hi Phil, not far away at all!
i think the parweld tig you have is the same as our work one, its the only tig ive ever used and am quite impressed with it, how do you find the 151 runs from 3 pin mains? or do you run it from a 16/20a blue?

I run the 151 form either 3 pin mains or the generator i got from makro, works great with both even on full power only had to change the fuse a couple of times in the last year or so.
The tig and my 180mig are on 32a blue plug, the migatronic 360 in the factory is 3 phase.
If you're looking for rent free gas give specialised and general welding (wallows brierley hill) a call

I looked for a unit up there too but didn't like the neighbourhood much so opted for attwood street lye, neighbours are the best but i got a chippy at the top of the road and about 30 baltis at the bottom

lye is good for the curry scene. just been playing around with my cebora 130 today, think ive cured one problem with it, it wouldnt arc on min setting, had the switch off and tested for continuity, and het presto, nothing on the min setting! took the switch apart, bent the contacts up abit and pulled the spring a bit, all working . still, seems to weld a bit 'splattery', have cleaned the shroud, tip seems ok, as does the feed? any ideas

What gas are you running? Pure CO2 can be a bit nasty on the lowest settings on most machines. Anything with a bit of argon is a lot better down there.

Post some photos of your problem welds - we should be able to troubleshoot.

thanks for reply malcolm, i am using pure c02, so ill be popping out and getting an argon mix cylinder when the shops reopen, any suggestions on the cheapest/best place to go midlanders!

edit. ill post some pics to so you can have a look see whats wrong
