Hi all from a newbie, I have a BIG little problem, I was hopping members could help with.
Hi guys, well here is my quandary?
I am building a wood burning stove, and I need to weld 1.5mm stainless steel pipe to 2mm sheet, that is for the back boiler. And the reset is 5mm mild steel.
I have a stick welder and it is ok for the mild steel but I know MIG is really good in corners, as most of my welds are in corners I figured a MIG would be a good idea.
Then there is the tank (back boiler) I bought the Haynes book on diy welding, and am now even more confused? How difficult is TIG really? Realising I am on a tight budget, I will not be able to afford an all singing all dancing machine. Then there is the problem of stainless steel expanding, any suggestions on the best steel to use for that?
Then another question, can one buy a TIG/MIG all in one machine? This would solve all my problems.
As you can see, it’s not a big problem, just one with loads of options, that makes it all a little bigger!
Just a little of subject, I bought a screwfix £60.00 welder, and after battling for ages took it back, I knew I could not be that rubbish! Bought a £160.00 welder, man o man what a difference! SWP I would give it a thumbs up! PS maybe there is a wire feeder that will connect to my SWP rod welder as a cost-effective option?
Really hopping you guys can help, and hope to hear from you soon.
