clutch started slipping yesterday in dads horsebox. seems its going to need a new one. in a hurry, as the lorry is needed next weekend...
so, well, read on...
y'know, considering that everything is so big on lorry's, its surprising how little room you have to work.
so little in fact, that it is genuinely impossible even over a pit to remove the gearbox from dads horsebox.
well, not without some lateral thinking, anyway.
i mean look, this is the ONLY access hatch. and you cant even see the gearbox...
Oh and..
Ladies and Gentlemen, centre stage.... MY DAD!!!!!
so yeah, lateral thinking...
if you have no access. make some!
oh look, gearbox!
lot and lots of wd40 and impact gunning, sweating and swearing later, the cross members undone, the air intake pipe is out of the way and the gear linkage is gone.
prop off
clutch slave cylinder simply unbolts and then its box off time.
all but one of the studs are removed then a bit of mcguyver'ing is needed.
gearbox go down!
think the clutch is a bit worn!
total time elapsed. 11am >3pm for the basic strip ( and a hour or so of cleanup after) not bad, you try doing that in 4 hours!
