Ah,
Beat it out of flat cold Seriously it is possible but I recon it might take a few decades! Inspected an ancient Chinese spherical bowl about 1" thick in bronze and big enough for two to bathe in, beaten out by Monks. Cant tell were it is as its one of those items we can truly call priceless and in private hands. Those guys must have had serious dedication and time on their hands

Hi Snooper...seeing how I have a plasma CNC I'd like to have a go at that.....always fancied a firepit....any ideas where I'd get the templates? I was trying to work out a way with pentagons and such like but gave up!!

I found the one above online I'm sure there will be others you could print out to the size you need

It'd need a big press to push a 1m x 6mm hemisphere and if your going to leave it whole it'll take some moving couldn't you get away with 3mm gas bottles are about that and they don't burn away.

This was something I made from slices of tube set in a papier mache form made round a gym ball

usually done by spinning I thought. still needs a big machine though
A mate has just had a 1/2 hemmy former made for spinning the 1/4 hemmy tops for morgan rads and boy is that heavy,and is only about 470mm dia solid steel former and cost thousands.

Cheers agroshield but the ones on EBAY seem to be a bargain...looking at one now 60cm dia steel firepit for just £35.00 ...don't think I could be bothered making at that price!

I wouldn't have thought you could spin 6mm plate but apparently i'm wrong, this is impressive

That is why there are radial marks on things like air receiver end caps due to the spinning forming wheel

Mate bought some hémisphères from China, about 70/80cm dia. & 4mm thick. Not as cheap as he thought after the customs/agents and local transport had taken a bite. But a lot cheaper than the ones quoted here.
