I've recently bought myself a second hand SIP topmig 150 to do some welding on my Fourtrak. I posted last week asking form someone to do the welding for me but after a few prompts in the right direction i'm going to give it a go. I've done a lot of Arc welding a few years ago but not really had a go with a Mig.
Anyway, i'm trying to work out exactly what i've bought, i've been reading about some of the common problems with the SIP migs and am interested in the work that has been done to mine.
If i've understood correctly its been fitted with a euro torch - i guess this would have been to get around the SIP feed problems? Few pics below:
I'm assuming this is the euro convertor?
Parweld torch which i believe isnt too bad - Have been given a new earth clamp by a friend, he reckons the old one isnt up to much?
0.8mm wire, i've checked that its sitting in the correct groove on the feed roller.
I've also got Pub co2 and the correct regulator. I'm going to be welding some 1.5mm sheet, should i start on the lowest wire speed and current and just have a play?
Any other pointers for me before i start? Have read all the tutorials and watched the videos on the home page which i've found useful.
Thanks!
