HELP with mondeo windscreen washers

HELP with mondeo windscreen washers please.

They have packed up just before MOT.
I've been throught the Ford book, and can't find any fuse listed for them. Am I looking in the wrong place. (Glove compartment + under bonnet)
Can't get at pump without pulling half the front of the car off (stupid design).
No room to fit an alternative tank + pump.

Any ideas? Pretty please

have a haynes manual here for a mondeo` cant see a fuse listed for the windscreen washers only for the headlights which work from the same reservoir` theres a fuse listed for that` F28 30A located in the passenger fusebox` only way to get to the pump is by dismantiling the lower panels` hope this helps

Fill an old fairy liquid bottle with plain water and mark it "Window Screen Washers" and keep it by the dash board. I can't see them failing it, especially if you demonstrate it working.

They might make you demonstrate at 50mph though, so may want to hook it up to some tubing

Yes it does, it confirms my worst fears, lying on wet concrete in a howling gale.....oh bother &%&_)^%. Thanks for looking.

Last time I tried that, it all ran down in the speedo & the glove compartment, I got soggy sarnis, & feet

Its all in the breeding Jugs! (...fathers side - I've got his eyes ...somewhere!)

If the bottle could somehow be secured to the floor (or the cup holder), and the bottle was upgraded to Domestos, I reckon, that would put it up to a "Mondeo GT" equivalent. The job is worth a shot if you can't get them working and time is tight - Just... don't lose your bottle!

My only other suggestions would be to:

• Continuity test all the fuses.
• Spray the motor and connections with WD40 (wiggle the connections etc).
• Clear the jets with a pin.
• If the motor has got jammed with gunk, disconnect the non-return valve & reverse the polarity to remove the obstruction.
• Or alternatively; "service" the motor with a tapping stick, (it may not help the washers, but, it would certainly make you feel a whole lot better).

Some more thoughts on it...

Unless it's "definitely the washer motor"; a bit of WD40 in the antenna switch might help. The old fords used to suffer from their contacts grinding (dirty - lack of factory lube). I can't see the new Fords being any better.

The washers don't have to be OEM to pass (working, fit for purpose, secure & safe is the gist of it). You could secure a tank in the people area, fix on any cheap washer motor from halfords, run the tube through the bulkhead to pick up the jets and as long as the new switch is accessible and secure it's a go-er.

If it's got headlight / rear washers, you could switch over the washer feeds and re-label the relevant switch.

Everything is negotiable It all depends on what level of fix suits you.

As far as I'm concerned MOT's are a farce anyway; A yearly, fleeting glance, that's only good till it leaves the MOT bay. The safety of my vehicle is, entirely, my daily responsibility.

I found it very helpful when tracking down a problem for the wife's son. Someone on there might have a bright idea that dioesn't involve grovelling around in the gutter.

Best I can come up with is to reverse the polarity on the motor and see if it will run backwards. In the good old days this could be enough to free a jammed motor. No promises with a newer car. The washers might have their own ECU!

It did seem to be intermitent power, the pump sometimes runs, will try the WD40.

Motor had bunt out due to non-return valves being blocked, if only they'd put a fuse in
Bastard job, particularly as I'm suffering from a slipped disc in the neck. (Mrs Jugs says I've been a pain in the neck for years).

So Jugs... Did you get the car through the MOT with just a fix, or did you fix them properly especially for the MOT?

Fixed them properly especially for MOT- new pump & modified the non return valves. Hurrah they work.

Failed on rear shockers & anti rollbar bugger.

Have to use the old Volvo (that goes with my beard and liking for trains) to take Mrs jugs to Manchester Royal Infirmary tommorow, to get planning permission for her bypass (heart) .

Volvo's a bit of a gas guzzler have to get jan to push up hills.)
