help with clarke 90en mig welder bought please

hi all. i am new to MiG welding though i have some experience with arc welding. anyways i got my first MiG welder today and its secondhand. its a clarke 90en.
question,
what should the shroud look like positioned like on the end of the gun, this is what it looks like on mine as it came and it's a bit on the slack side.
any tips for this welder would be well appreciated.

Treat yourself to a new shroud, level with the end of the tip or the tip a few millimetres inside the shroud is fine but you could touch that to the metal. It could be the tip that is wrong, I'm not familiar with the diy ones and there may be a shorter tip available.

theres a coller bit missing frounde round the back of the shrowd thats alowing it to far back

The SIP shrouds are shorter than the Clarke ones. I guess that's a SIP one fitted. The contact tips are about the same length if I recall. Here are the dudes you need.

Were there not some new shrouds and MIG tips inside the machine with a bottle of CO2?

the shroud in the picture is 46mm long and 14mm in diameter, don't know if that is the right shroud that's meant for it or not but that's what came with the welder. if you look inside the shroud you can see that some of the threads are worn away. there was 2 new shrouds that came included but they are push on ones.

question........what is the main purpose of the shroud.

I think it is for directing the shielding gas and prevents the user touchong the contact tip

The ones I pointed to are also 45mm long. Though the threads at the end do look odd true enough.

Ajso check the tip length - there are dimensions in the shop - 18mm long.
