I ended buying an Ingersol Rand 7/31e. I think I paid about £1600, the place I got it had about 20 of them, they were originally wheeled units but the wheel chassis had been removed which wasn't an issue for me as I have tractors to move it and it made it less knickable. It's done about 1200 hours. Mine doesn't do a huge amount and I wish I bought one with more hours but in better condition cosmetically. I plumpted for the lower hours. Parts can be really expensive for these. I've just done a filter fit and it was about £100. I've ordered 3 engine mounts as the front one must be low as the fan has rubbed. The engine mounts came to £160, I didn't order the fan blade because it's £185 plus vat for a plastic fan!

Agreed to buy this for €1700 today and put down a €300 deposit.
I think it should work out well. All things considered, fingers crossed.

Hi guys,
Quick question. What is the best way to secure this to a trailer for transport on Monday. Will have a 4x4 + trailer. The compressor receiver tank has slots for a fork lift and a forklift will be on hand at both loading and unloading venues.
I will have a driver on hand who will be familiar with this but I just want to ask ahead of time to get your guys opinion.
My understanding from the little knowledge I have with trailers is that you would load this in the centre of the trailer, but forward towards the trailer/hitch area. I say this because I see thats where the engine of a car should be (mid/rear engine cars get reverse loaded).
It looks a bit awkward to tie down to be honest. Ideally you would have the loading straps (full HGC size will be used). Tied down over the air receiver - but it looks like this isn't possible in the current assembled state.
Would it be advisable to strip down some of the paneling covering what I assume is the mounting area for the compressor onto the receiver and maybe get the straps on there.. or what?
Maybe it's ok to put the straps over the top of the entire assembly and ratchet down, but I very much doubt that - I wouldn't even try it.
Will wrap and tie down builders plastic all over the compressor / dryer etc once secure to trailer.

You'll probably be able to feed the straps between the side panels and receiver, and pull it down tight against those.
The driver is always responsible for the security of the load, so they should be the one deciding how the secure it.
But to be honest, from your comments above it sounds like your paying someone to move this? So if it was me I'd just let them get on with it and if it goes wrong it'll be their problem.

Well.. it will be my 4x4 and his trailer and he will drive. He is a friend but I'll give him beer money.
He doesn't transport stuff day in day out but I am sure he knows a few things. I am just curious about how you guys would do it. Because if we arrive on Monday and he isn't sure I want to at least have some help from the pros.

Purchased..... seems like a solid unit which I managed to get a decent price on.
Will output about 77CFM and is a 10 Bar unit so it should be sufficient for the blasting I want to do in workshop.
It's a massive relief to get sorted on this and I am glad I didn't go with a road unit.

if you want to know what size jet it will run it may run a 6.0mm one . just below that is a 3 mm get a bit of 10mm round bar drill a 6.0mm hole through it and stuff it in some airline pipe using a jubily clip. power the comp up and run it through and see what pressure it will hold it at in constant use preferably 90psi

Thank you. From the research I have done online all of the charts point towards a 1/4" - 6mm nozzle.
And having reviewed videos of people doing work with that size it should be OK. It will certainly get me going anyway.
