I was just about to suggest the same thing!I take it you can’t just use a mechanical switch for detecting limits?
One arrangement is to have the torch mount floating slightly on the Z axis to allow a mm or so movement in the Z direction when the torch contacts something - The movement triggers a microswitch. Far fewer EMI concerns, especially with an NC switch and no need for any other gubbins.
