Help, what do I go for?

It seems that I need a Mig welder.

I have embarked on a landrover project and it has the usual foot wells that need sorting and bits of the chassis need welding as well.

i am intending to enrol on a welding course at the local college to brush up my welding skills, its been a few years since i last did any serious welding.

I have about £150 to spend but am not sure what to go for? instinct says go for good second hand what ever that is.

£150 means you're limited to second hand, you won't buy a decent quality new machine for that. You might see them on Ebay for that sort of money but they won't be well-known brands so spares and backup will be very hit and miss.
You need one of at least 150A, anything smaller won't have enough power so don't even consider it.
There's nothing in the for sale section on here at the mo other than a sealey one which the seller hasn't bothered to answer a question as to whether it's still available or not so it may be sold.
Price is within your budget but it needs attention. No worse than buying one on ebay though, loads of the so-called 'perfect working order' ones on there have some sort of fault so as they say, 'you pays yer money and you takes yer chances'.

Keep a careful look out on Ebay, and you might well find a tatty but perfectly usable quality machine for not much more than you want to spend. It is a good idea to see any Ebay buy before any money changes hands though, ideally agreeing a price and viewing/trying before auction ends.

what makes would you call "quality machines" in that price range.
Would a Sealy SuperMig 180 be a good second hand buy provided its all working OK
