I have just joined this forum and am wanting to buy welding equipment mainly to join iron and/or steel in making bases for wooden coffee tables and similar. I will probably use mostly existing bits of fencing or any bits I can get hold of to break down and re-fix or otherwise mend or make use of. I am setting up a workshop as a hobby woodworker, but have almost no experience of welding (once owned an cheap arc welder which I used half a dozen times about 20 years ago).
I would like to spend under £100. Quite happy to by second hand if I can find a good buy.
I would really appreciate some wisdom on what to buy or look out for.
