Hiya I'm new on here.
I've signed up as I may need help from time to time and because I'm female and like a chat.
I've been a fabricator since leaving school,12yrs ago,my grandfather originally learnt me how to weld from being 13 as he owned a fabrication welding company until his death 3yrs ago..
I love the transmig tm140 murex/boc because he learnt me to weld with it.
As soon as I took ownership of my own workshop he gave me the mig its in immaculate condition since he bought it he said in the 80's.
So today I start an order of tyre storage racking made from old scaffold tubes dropped off by customer. Id spot welded a full rack and was about to start seam welding it. when out of the blue never had any problems ever with the tm140 it dies .
I have it plugged into a 32amp plug that has its own breaker on the consumer, so checked the trip and that was ok then ran a light up power tester along the lead and I'm getting power to the tm140 and that's how far I've got. I'm not frightened to open it up as I do often on my filcord to replace petontimetres for wire feed I've changed a faulty pcb changed burnt wiring all on the filcord.
Are the tm140 known for anything and I've just been lucky to never have anything go wrong with it EVER.
I have been advised to look for blown capacitors or bulging tops on them.. However if its not the case is there anything on the pcb to test I can use multi meters etc .
So not scared of getting involved with or without my overalls gauntlets and mask on ..
I thank you in advance for any help. The main reason I want it working is that my grandfather died 3yrs ago like I mentioned and he gave it to me.so although I do love the machine for how it performs it is also sentimental and I'm really upset..
Thanks again in advance
Sarah xx
