Help please

Hi everyone just got a Clarke 100EN.
I'm Running .6 mild steel wire with a .6 tip on Co2
I have been trying to learn to weld 1mm mild steel, (as I'm intersted in car repair) But all I get is either it blowing thru or not penertrating enough.
where am I going wrong?
I have the power set on 1 Min and the wire speed on about 4.5 on the machine.
Am I not working the zig zag out of the pool enough or is the wire spped to fast? please help done two bottles of gas already trying to get it better.

CO2 is difficult on thin metal as it adds heat to the weld and has a wide profile so the weld pool falls out and blows through.

Argon/CO2 mixes have a narrower penetration that is easier to control.

CO2 is doable, but you need to use a fast torch speed. Keep the torch/work length a bit longer to reduce current.

Vertical down welding on thin metal is actually easier than welding flat as it will have less penetration and you are forced to move faster.

You should need very little weave and keep the torch moving forward.

0.6mm steel is difficult, using and argon/CO2 mix will definitely help. CO2 is much cheaper on disposables as they cans hold a lot more. Argon/CO2 disposables are expensive and only last a few minutes. You might want to get refillable tank of argon/CO2 or tri-mix like Argoshield.

Ok how can I convert My welder to run on big bottles

You will need a regulator and an adapter for the 4mm tube. Weldequip has them as does DIYWelding.

Where will I find the instructions of how to fit the bigger 4mm pipe to my smaller pipe do I hav?e to take the welder apart

Huh?

The clarke comes with a 4mm pipe. You just insert it into the adapter on the regulator.

where do i get big bottles from?

pm weldequip or diy welding ask them for a price for a regulator to convert your mig to argon
then do a quick search for adams gas get some 95% argon from them
worry about the pipe when it arrives
