Help please

Hello to all i am newbe to this site looking for some advice please

I an looking to buy a welder for car body repairs chassis and panel work with a 300 budget for every thing i need Helmet etc, have read through i few posts and am more confused now than ever

Idealy i need some thing that can take regular use, mostly panel stuff with the odd bit of chassis work. Gas preferbly with regulator for a big bottle, also very important needs to be 240v mains as not to blow the electric in my garage.

Have been looking at the clarke 135TE???

If anyone can advise me on it or any other in that budget that might be sutible i would be extermly gratefull!

Welcome to the forum, I would probably advise Clarke considering your budget, decent machines with good spare availability.

135 amps should be sufficient for your needs and will be fine off normal 240v supply, with a small chance of popping an occasional fuse if used on full power for an extended period of time.

Considering gas, mask, gloves etc you are going to be right on the limit of your budget and may go over if you don't have a local independant gas supplier..

Hi thanks for the quick reply, i forgot to mention i have a mate with a pub with a pub so my gas will be free so is not i ncluded in the budget, also after a bity of reading ive joined up to MM ive heard the do VAT free days

Loads of us get the MM VAT Free vouchers, we tend to pass them to each other if we don't need them ourselves.
I will watch out for my next one and you can have it, just send me a pm to keep reminding me about what and who etc and I will reply to it when the voucher arrives.

Hi thanks steve very kind of you I have also looked at the 151TE but am unsure if this would be ok as it say it doesnt come with a 3 pin plug fitted???

It's always nicer to have that bit of extra power and many users operating them on normal plugs, my 235 amp has never blown a fuse but its a transformer type which I think helps.

It seems to vary a fair bit from house to house, some people blow fuses above 130,others have no problems at 150, usually blowing fuses is a result of continued use.
