HELP please , who is the best to collect a colchester lathe and transport

Aaah, so that's how you're meant to load a pallet!!!!

take some decent long screws and put them through the planks into the blocks on the edge ones that you put your ratchet strap too, and dont overtighten straps as they will pull the planks off...

Proper pallets are 120x100. Euro pallets are 120x80 which aren't as stable.
Notice we put the lathe on the pallet the wrong way around. If it's going to tip it will be sideways so with a width of 120 it is more stable.

This might be entirely irrelevant, (feel free to ignore) but it's worth getting the eye bolt, to fit lifting point for whoever does the moving. In my case an after thought.

He did. We never used it as my engine crane wouldn't fit - legs too narrow. Will be handy when he lifts it off the pallet with his tractor though!
My old toe jack - blocks of wood and a pallet truck did the trick.
Funnily enough I used a pallet truck to move my monster 5 ton lathe sideways. Only on the tailstock end and didn't attempt pumping it up. Used the toe jack to lift. Pallet truck as rollers. Then a huge crowbar to lever it sideways an inch at a time. Just to get the lathe straight basically.

I couldn't have used it either, as I didn't have a beam or nufink
So it was scaffolding poles and my extremely handy and lethal 'Farm' jack + block and tackle. I always remember the old black & white cartoons with a farm jack self lowering and knocking the mechanic under the chin. All very comical 'til one experiences it for real.
You just never let go of handle....

I normally use a ratchet strap with a piece of wood extending handle , slow but safe , but fizzy had the right kit so it went well.
