Original thought I had an earth problem butt the wire doesn't feed either.
Machine powers up.
When started to investigate found this other opposite side to the wire (if that makes sense )any help would be so grateful apparently
At a guess, that loose resistor that you found is ( was ? ) a "bleed resistor" used to drain charge from the smoothing capacitor bank whenever the torch trigger is released. It's possible that it was originally mounted near the capacitors, or the contactor ( a large heavy-duty relay ), and maybe it broke off long before the current fault.
When you press the torch trigger switch, does the gas valve open? With the covers open, do you hear or see a small relay on the control board click? Does the main contactor close? This device may have a manual operating button in the centre of the top. You could try carefully pressing this button with an insulated screwdriver to check if the machine will power up. Take care, the wires and terminals on the contactor are live at AC mains voltage!
Are there any fuses in the machine, on the front or rear panel, or the control board? Photos inside & out will help.
