Hello and welcome, another expat
I wouuld "stick" to what you used 100's of years ago, stick welding aint as fussy as mig etc . Oh and pictures always go down well
Bon chance

STay away from the real small arc welders (110A and below.) They tend to be over rated and are difficult to use unless they are flat out. I consier 140A to be a minimum.
Get some name-brand rods, no-name ones are harder to use and don't have the current range better ones have.
Arc is best for things that are not clean. Also cheapest.
I've not used many arc welders, but I was impressed by the DC inverter ones. For steel I'd go for one of those in preference to AC or transformer based.
Cheap ones won't necessarily last long - they'll be sensitive to knocks and spikes in power supply, but the cheap one I tried worked well. I'd go for that type, get the best you are prepared to pay for and be careful with it. Can't advise on which make to buy.
SINKA; Hello; I've been Welding Professionally since 1967, The only Welder I would use is Lincoln Mig or Arc !!
I own a 1968 Lincoln Welder - Generator & a 2008 Lincoln Mig 180- 240V.
these days the majority of my Welding is Mig Welding !!
