I probably wouldn't have spotted it either but not knowing the welder I had a play with turning the control up and it stopped after two clicks. The pointy bit of the knob doesn't look to me half as pointy as the "non-pointy" bit. Silly design...looking back at your welder pics I can see how that could happen
I was interested to see how 0.8mm wire coped with thin-ish material since I'm used to using 0.6mm wire for that and for most other jobs - I seldom weld anything over 3mm with MIG. It looks like it's quite feasible to use 0.8mm for bodywork although I'd be more comfortable with 0.6mm. I only thought afterwards that I should have given spaffmonkey a go with the 0.6mm stuff for comparison.
