help needed Blackhawk 98261

Hi does anyone no anything about these ..? its a bit of a dinosaur but has never let me down untill now .....
Turn on main switch on machine and it blows the fuse in the plug without triggering etc .
Is it scrap ???

get your multimeter out and measure between the L and earth to check for a short down to earth. and then measure the resistance between L and N . it sound to me that you have a short somewhere and its pulling to much current and blowing the fuse. it could be a stray bit of metal dust inside that's tracking over so might be worth cleaning the welder out. if its blowing before the trigger is pulled then it is probity on the control side of things as must welders don't fire up the transformer till the trigger is pulled thought a contractor
