help (Kombi 180 mig/mag)

hi been using this mig but now its stopped arcing anyone got any ideas ?
everything else works but will not spark anymore

The earth lead connection to the choke transformer lead is the primary suspect...been replaced & extremely dodgy looking

dont know if its just the photo but it looks to me as if something has become disconected see attatched photo

It has, a proper panel socket for the choke transformer lead to connect to the back of & the earth lead to plug into the front of.
That connection you have shown there Snooper looks normal, just the camera shot making it look dodgy I reckon.

looks like the copper lead has a hole in it as does the connection from the rectifier thought a bolt may have dropper out

i would agree with the earth connection have just had one gon on my mig it would give a voltage reading but no amperage at al

Certainly possible Snooper yes, but that earth lead assembly is the first port of call Only a few quid to set it up properly & see if that cures it.

have just had a thought regarding the earth lead the solid copper lead from the transformer will have laquer on it and would need sanding off to make a connection

it possible looks like the earth lead is just twisted onto it

That earth looks like it may have arced to the transformer beside it. I can almost smell it from here. Get down to Spectrum welding on Storforth lane they should have some bits to sort it out.

have just repaird a bad earth same place on my mig the acctual physical connection was sound you could not pull it apart no matter how hard you tried but the electrical connection had had it

That connection needs to be totally sound, think you will find by fitting the proper panel socket & cable plug the problem will be solved
